Teresa Rubio
Beginner Yoga, Dance
I have been dancing since I can remember and have had the opportunity to see various styles of dance and the joy it brings. My mom and family were always dancing at various family events, it was always a part of us. When I was 7 years old, my family moved from Ohio to a plantation in the Amazon jungle of Brasil. It was here that I was fortunate to see another culture and the power of music and movement in bringing people together. We moved back to Ohio when I was in the 7th grade where I continued to dance as a cheerleader, and then on dance teams through high school and college. I started teaching fitness at the age of 19 after completing an instructor training course at the University of Virginia. I started with Hi/Lo Aerobics, then Step, Slide, and Kickboxing. This all helped support me through graduate school.
I obtained my Zumba certification in 2010, and I love that it allows me to bring the joy of dance to my classes. I love choreographing new routines and seeing my students laugh and smile! I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2013 and believe that "if you can breathe, you can do yoga." My Saturday class, Dancing Downward Dog, starts off with dancing and ends with a yoga-inspired stretch to start your weekend off right.
I have 2 beautiful teenage boys and an awesome husband that are the lights of my life. I enjoy cooking, beaches, and dancing like no one's watching!
I hope to dance with you sometime very soon!
